Mission Statement
Lancaster Postal Employees Federal Credit Union is member-owned
and dedicated to serving the financial needs
of our membership.
History of Lancaster Postal Employees Federal Credit Union
The Lancaster Postal Employees Federal Credit Union opened for business
in 1933 in the basement of the Downtown Post Office located at 48
W. Chestnut St., Lancaster PA. The cost of membership was $5.00
and the credit union was open 3 afternoons a week. It was staffed
by a city letter carrier who conducted credit union business after
he delivered his mail route. We have since evolved into a $10.M
+ credit union with over 2,500 members and a staff of eight.
As a state-chartered credit union, our members' accounts are insured
up to $100,000.00 by the National Credit Union Adminstration
(NCUA). LPECU is a member of the Lan-Chester Chapter of Credit Union,
the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association (PCUA). We are also a reporting member of the
Credit Bureau.
